fossae lumbales laterales

The phrase 'dimples of Venus' refers to the pair of sagittally symmetrical indentations sometimes visible on the human lower back, just superior to the gluteal cleft. The dimples are directly superficial to the two sacroiliac joints, the sites where the sacrum attaches to the ilium of the pelvis. This term, while being very informal, is not strictly slang but is a historically accepted name within the medical profession for the superficial topography of the sacroiliac joints hence the Latin name is fossae lumbales laterales (lateral lumbar indentations - literally translated as ditches or trenches). Dimples of Venus are rapidly gaining cultural momentum as a feature which heterosexual men find particularly attractive in females. Some male have also referred them as butt dimples.

Why should you like them?
  1. They make the beach a more fun place to be.
  2. Butt dimples go well with low-rise jeans.
  3. They're relatively unknown. A lot of girls have no idea they've got these butt accessories.
  4. Butt dimples are getting more popular!
  5. If a girl catches you staring at her ass, you can pretend it was the dimples (a close second). Phew! Close call there.
  6. Makes for a good pickup line.
