This beach house in Paraty, Brazil is the work of Studio MK27’s. Located on the slope of a mountainside on an island in between São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, the house consists of two reinforced concrete boxes stacked on top of each other. The Architects designed an 8m cantilevered first floor level that extends towards the sea. Underneath this projection, a metal bridge gives the viewers access over a pool of water, to the ground floor entrance. To maximise the view of the sea, a 27m-long glass facade has been incorporated in the design, but to create privacy for its residents, Studio MK27 have used eucalyptus sticks as window shades. Small internal patios and rooftop terraces have also been created for observation platforms and sculpture gardens.
