In this spectacular Megalopolis series, father and son photographers Horst (born 1946) & Daniel (born 1972) Zielske depict a new city born of the technologically and economically rampant twentieth century - a Shanghai between fiction and reality as the city of tomorrow, an immense city simultaneously full of the exhilaration and the nightmare of modern human progress at its most ambitious and unbridled. The fruit of a 6-year long project to document the city at this historic time of transition, these pictures have a ‘Bladerunner’ surreality and dynamism that cannot fail to speed the imagination. They are as awesome as the futuristic scene they so thrillingly document.
Based in Göttingen, Germany, Horst and Daniel Zielske have been working together in the field of photography for 12 years during which they have produced more than 20 books:
