Kunze Seeholzer Architektur & Stadtplanung designed Chapel of St. Benedict is located in a park near old Kolbermoor spinning mill, Germany. The chapel has a classic image of a church but reinterpreted with a modern spirit. Concrete and wood is used primarily with rainwater as an extra element cleverly diverted to flow visibly inside a wooden gutter fitted onto the external walls thus reminds the visitors the passing of the seasons.

The simplicity of the great wooden door creates the facade. There are no windows to disturb the clean external walls. Light filters along the whole internal perimeter making the interior looking dissolved and its ceiling looking suspended. The whole chapel is a clean interplay of light and shade, interior and exterior and sky and earth.
